Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you spend any time on social media, specifically TikTok, I’m sure you’ve seen these Viral Strawberry Yogurt Clusters. They’re truly everywhere!

I was scrolling through my feed the other day and every video after the next was these. It was at that exact moment that I knew I had to join in on all the fun. One because that’s what i do – It’s literally my job!

But also because the little chocolatey strawberry clusters just seemed downright delicious. I simply needed to check out all the hype for myself!

Let me tell you – they did not disappoint! I absolutely understand why these are trending on TikTok and have become a true social media sensation.

They are sweet, creamy, tangy, crunchy, and beautiful too. Look at the pink color! Plus they’re perfect for when you’re craving decadent ice cream, but want something lighter. I just love them!

Here’s why you will too:

  • Healthy: I mean if greek yogurt is one of the main ingredients in something it has to be healthy right? Right! At least in my humble opinion. Anyway! These chocolate covered clusters are filled with good-for-you ingredients like fiber-filled fruit, refined sugar free honey, and protein packed yogurt. It is the perfect guilt-free frozen treat to enjoy during the hot summer months. Or better yet – all year long!
  • Minimal Ingredients: This simple recipe only requires 6 ingredients! I am always looking for recipes with short ingredient lists that won’t hurt the bank and this is definitely that. You’ll need nothing fancy!
  • Delicious: Creamy yogurt combined with perfectly sweet, perfectly tart strawberries all wrapped up in rich chocolate pretty is pretty much a recipe for success. You can’t go wrong here! This treat is utterly scrumptious.

Ingredients & Substitutions

This delicious treat went viral for many reasons! One of those being the very short list of simple ingredients required to make them.

You don’t need much to make frozen yogurt clusters – essentially just the yogurt of your choice, fresh strawberries, and chocolate. I’ve added a few extra ingredients to spruce ’em up a bit, but you could totally leave them out if you want super simple!

  • Strawberries: The star of this show is some fresh and delicious whole strawberries! You’ll chop them up and measure out 1 1/2 cups.
  • Yogurt: You will also need 1 cup of yogurt. I use plain yogurt, but you can use any yogurt you’d like. Perhaps a flavored one – like strawberry yogurt for a strawberry flavor explosion or a simple vanilla yogurt for a bit of extra deliciousness.
  • Honey: 1 tablespoon honey adds just the right amount of sweetness to this healthy treat. You could add a bit more if you don’t want any tangy taste from the yogurt!
  • Vanilla Extract: Add 1 tsp vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  • Chocolate: I use 1 cup of semi sweet mini chocolate chips for the chocolate coating on these clusters. Feel free to use any type of chocolate you’d like. Perhaps dark chocolate or white chocolate!
  • Coconut Oil: You’ll add 2 tbsp refined coconut oil to the chocolate when melting. This helps create a super thin and smooth chocolate coating!

Now let’s get cooking! Well in the case of this no bake dessert recipe … let’s get mixing and freezing!

How To Make This Recipe

These frozen strawberry yogurt bites with chocolate require 4 main steps – mix, scoop, freeze, and coat!

You will have a no-bake, healthy sweet treat ready in no time, with barely any effort on your part required. The trickiest part in my opinion is the chocolate dipping, but I’ve included all my best pointers in the Expert Tips section to ensure its easy-breezy for you guys!

Step 1: Combine yogurt mixture. Add the chopped strawberries, plain greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract to a large bowl. Combine thoroughly.

Step 2: Scoop yogurt. Add scoops of the yogurt mixture (about 2 tbsp) to a parchment paper lined baking sheet or large plate to form the clusters. You should be able to make 10 clusters.

Step 3: Freeze clusters. Next place the baking sheet with the yogurt clusters in the freezer. Freeze until they are completely frozen and solid, about 1-2 hours.

Step 4: Melt chocolate. Once the clusters are frozen, melt the chocolate. Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 15 or 30-second intervals, stirring in between each one, until the chocolate is melted.

Step 5: Dip yogurt clusters. Remove the frozen yogurt clusters from the freezer and carefully dip each one into the melted chocolate. I recommend using a spoon to ensure each cluster is thoroughly coated.See the Expert Tips section for more help.Once coated with chocolate, place each cluster back on the prepared baking sheet. You can also add a sprinkle of sea salt if you’d like.

Step 6: Set & enjoy! Place the clusters back in the freezer for a few minutes to ensure the chocolate hardens and the yogurt solidifies a bit. Enjoy!

Optional Variations & Dietary Adaptions

These chocolate strawberry clusters are absolutely scrumptious just as is, but there is always room for some changes! Here are some ideas of adaptions you could make to meet your needs or preferences:

  • Different Fresh Fruit: These clusters could easily be made with a different fruit of your choice! My next best choice would be to make blueberry yogurt clusters with fresh blueberries in place of the strawberries. This variation has also gone viral on social media! But you could do another berry too – like raspberries or blackberries. Or switch things up completely and try chopped peaches or cherries.
  • Vegan: This easy dessert is very vegan-friendly! Simply swap out the honey for some pure maple syrup and use a plant based yogurt. Then ensure you use dark chocolate chips or dairy free semi sweet chips!
  • Low Sugar: You can easily keep these chocolate clusters low sugar as well. Skip the honey and use no sugar added chocolate chips! You could also use less chocolate, adding just a drizzle on top, or none at all.
  • Mix-Ins: Now this is where things get fun! I have so many amazing ideas for ingredients you could add to the yogurt mixture in these clusters.
    • Chocolate Chips
    • Chopped Nuts
    • Peanut Butter, Almond Butter
    • Granola
    • Shredded Coconut
    • Caramel Sauce

Expert Tips

  • Make sure to line whatever you are freezing the clusters on with parchment paper. Otherwise they could get stuck, which would make the whole process messier and more difficult.
  • To make freezing and dipping the clusters in chocolate easier and more seamless, create relatively small clusters. They will freeze quicker and be easier to handle!
  • Chocolate Dipping Tips: I don’t know why, but I always find this part difficult. Even in my other chocolate-coated treats like Cookie Dough Bites and Puppy Chow Truffles.
    • Wait to dip until the yogurt clusters are completely frozen solid
    • Melt the chocolate in a small bowl. This will make the melted chocolate deeper, which I find to be better for dipping.
    • Do not skip the coconut oil! This make the chocolate thin, smooth, and runny. Which is best for dipping.
    • Dip in batches. I do not recommend taking all of the yogurt clusters out of the freezer when starting the chocolate dipping process. I find that if I do this, by the time I get to the last few clusters – they have started to melt. Which is super messy! Instead I take 3-4 clusters out of the freezer at a time, dip them, and place them back in the freezer. Then I continue the process.

FAQs

How to best store this recipe?

I recommend storing leftovers of these chocolate strawberry bites in an airtight container in the freezer. Just let them thaw for a few minutes before enjoying!

I do not recommend storing in the fridge. I have found that when I do this the clusters become a melty mess.

Is this recipe healthy?

Yes! I am not a dietician or nutritionist, but in my opinion these clusters are a great healthy snack or dessert option.

They are made with wholesome ingredients like protein packed plain greek yogurt, refined sugar free honey, and fresh strawberries!

Each cluster is about 160 calories with 2 g protein which is fabulous in my opinion! They are a great alternative to the typical high sugar, high calorie frozen treats.
