I want to thank two long-time, dear friends for pointing out that Deepfakes using Generative AI are moving at a blistering pace. The production of fake voice, images and video now takes minutes instead of days. Cyber criminals, fraudsters and hacktivists can quickly gen-up on-line crimes, frauds or create political turmoil by just having a sampling of voice, images or video. It is more important than ever to validate who you are interacting with digitally in every aspect of communication. The market is moving faster than government. The number one recommendation for the public is to have a secret family password, ransom fakes are very common now. Corporations need policies in place, it's not that hard but awareness is always a struggle.High stakes examples below:International Hong Kong Firm taken for $ 25 MM via fake video chathttps://lnkd.in/e7_ZvqEmDeepfakes in India election polling is generating confusion and angst, link belowhttps://lnkd.in/e5w82q8DWatermarks for media forms are going to be required, and it is unclear how to require them of all content creators. There are competing technical solutions emerging but putting them into work at scale will be a challenge. There is some legislation being proposed, seems early days for legislature.

Loved this conversation with Chris Parker, he is incredibly well versed in privacy and security with a talent for getting the best out of his guests. At least that was my experience ! As end to end encrypted messengers have grown, governments have become very aggressive in surveillance. This conversation with Chris is extremely relevant today as the U.S. government is right now in the midst of debating FISA 702 amendments which may provide the ability to surveil without warrant. Our constitutional rights are on the line - see the fourth amendment. This conversation applies to the United Nations Special Rapporteur as well as regulated industries like finance and healthcare where end to end messengers are banned with companies being fined
